On a bright spring afternoon, I stepped out from the cold, dark basement where the air had felt heavy and still. The change was sudden and breathtaking. The world was waiting for me, and the scent of lilacs filled the warm, sun-drenched day. Coming from the shadows, smelling those blossoms made everything feel different—as if the world had suddenly surged back to life.
As I reached out to touch them, a powerful memory washed over me. It was a “freezing phase” where time stood still, leaving me with a deep sense of calm. A warm breeze brushed against my cheek, and my heart beat with sudden joy. In my mind’s eye, I saw my beautiful daughters playing in a vast, vibrant green field.
Then, reality snapped back. I found myself staring at the purple lilacs growing gracefully in their vases. I looked into the mirror and saw my eighty-year-old self smiling back. I thought of my daughters and the women they have become; the pride in my heart stems from knowing I made them feel special, loved, and appreciated.
Suddenly, a warm energy pulled me back even further, to a day when I was eight months pregnant. I remember sipping bright red tea from a small glass on a breezy spring day, the scent of blossoms blowing in the wind. Feeling those tiny, rhythmic kicks in my stomach created a connection that has stayed strong within me forever.
Sometimes, I snap back into the present and realize how the smallest things in life can be the greatest if you nurture them. It is a profound feeling to realize how small you are in your own world, yet how much love you can hold. Life is short; take good care of yourself. Keep your memories close to your heart and choose to stay happy. You can always make life easier for yourself and others if you simply choose to.
